NOR vs NAND Flash Memory: Two Architectures, One Physics | How Flash Works

The key insight: NOR connects cells in parallel → direct byte access → execute-in-place (XIP). NAND connects cells in series → eliminates per-cell contacts → half the area → cheap mass storage. Same tunnel oxide, same floating gate, radically different system-level behaviour.
