Some experiences stay with you forever — and our hot air balloon flight over Luxor is definitely one of them.

The day started long before sunrise. We woke up while it was still dark, excited for a magical sunrise flight. But after arriving, we had to wait. Following a tragic balloon accident years ago, flights in Luxor are strictly regulated, and every takeoff requires military approval. The wind was still a little too strong, and for a while it seemed like our dream might not happen that morning.

Then, thankfully, the long-awaited green light came.

By then, the sunrise had almost passed, but the moment our balloon slowly lifted off the ground, none of that mattered anymore. Floating high above Luxor was one of the most breathtaking experiences my son and I have ever shared.

The views were simply incredible. Seeing the mountains rise from the desert landscape was unforgettable, and one of the absolute highlights was flying above the magnificent Hatshepsut Temple. Looking down on this ancient masterpiece from a hot air balloon felt surreal and gave us a completely different perspective on Egypt's incredible history.

And then came the perfect ending: our balloon landed right beside the legendary Colossi of Memnon, one of those moments that felt too incredible to be real. After floating above temples, mountains, and ancient history, touching down next to these iconic statues was the perfect finale to an unforgettable adventure.

It was one of the most exciting and memorable adventures we have ever experienced together — a father-and-son moment we will cherish forever, and honestly, an experience worth the trip to Egypt all by itself.
