Instrument cluster intermittent LCD screen repair BMW e36 M3 (Part 2)

PLEASE NOTE: There are two more videos after this. I highly recommend watching them first before you attempt working on yours. Hind sight is 20/20! (More than likely, the soldering is the issue and LCD screen is much less likely).

This is the second part of the first video (see link below) on repairing the LCD intermittent pixel failure in e36 M3. It is an electrical contact issue (as it varies with outside temperature too). There are two places where this poor electrical contact could occur: 1. between the rubber zebra connector (elastomeric connector) and its housing pins (in the white unit shown toward the end of this video), and/or 2. the pins of that LCD housing connection with the PCB (printed circuit board) - poor contact due to cold solder and/or corroded joints. In my first video I addressed issue #1. Here I attempted to address issue #2 by showing how to get to this PCB to expose the pins. However, I did NOT actually end up re-soldering the pins in the back due to the protective coating. Some other folks showed that re-soldering fixed the problem, but their PCB did not have a protective coating. I re-cleaned the pins addressing issue #1, again, and this seemed to have worked 99% of the time over the past 3 days. I think that's good enough for now.
