This is one of my top 5 favorite stories I've ever told you since I started making videos 2.5 years ago, so I hope you enjoy!
It's about a 74 year old man named Mike Hanopol, who comes from a beautiful island in the Philippines called Leyte. In his early life, he found out (from his father) that he has Jewish ancestry, so he spent 15 years living between the U.S. and Israel to learn more about his religion.
To this day, he remains Orthodox, keeping Shabbat and eating kosher -- which is not as easy as it sounds here in the Philippines, a country that's 85-90% dominated by Catholicism.
Oh yeah, and he's also a super famous rockstar from the 1970s, with several big hits around the country like "Laki sa Layaw." I didn't mention in the video that he opened up for Led Zeppelin in the 1970s in Tokyo, which is my favorite band of all time!
If you enjoyed this video, it would mean a lot to me if you shared it with your friends because I spent 3 days putting it together :)
