During this adventure, we magnet fish, bottle hunt, can hunt, metal detect, as well as rock hunt. The areas we visited were the abandoned Naval Air Station, Salton city, and the area surrounding Obsidian Butte (Salton Buttes). The military base was an atomic weapon test site during WW2. The military drop dummy atomic bombs directly into the sea. The Salton Sea is littered with sunken planes and military equipment. Beware: there are notifications of unexploded ordinance still on the base. The below links can provide you with information on the sea. Please take the time to educate yourself on the sea. The former navy atomic bomb practice target in the Salton Sea is located in the water.
