Australia 'sharpening its teeth' to be ready for communist China

The only way to understand Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s two big defence “spend-a-thons” is that Australia must quickly muscle up against communist China says Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

On Wednesday, Mr Morrison announced a $270 billion boost to defence while he offered a grim outlook on what he described as a "poorer, more dangerous" post-coronavirus world.

The Prime Minister outlined a 10-year funding model as part the government's 2020 National Defence Strategy, committing to defence funding that would go beyond two per cent of GDP.

The strategy centred around a three-objective approach to shape the region, deter foreign powers and respond to impending threats.

Mr Bolt said the communist regime under Xi Jinping is getting “too carried away with their nationalism”.

He said today’s announcements represent Australia “just getting ourselves some sharper teeth” amid escalating diplomatic tensions.
