Let's have an in-depth look at microdrives, the storage technology of the Sinclair QL (and to a lesser extend the ZX Spectrum as well). It turns out one of the microdrives wasn't working, so I did some fault-finding and ended up replacing the microdrive ULA itself (which apparently it's not an uncommon problem) to repair the microdrive. Later I looked into re-felting a cartridge to make it functional again, and finally, I ran some speed tests vs floppy disks and even traditional audio tapes.
