Hey, it’s Chia from Brand24 and today I have a few tips for you on how to find the right social media influencers to do influencer marketing for your brand. I’m going to share a two-part method that will help you find out which influencer would be the best match for your brand.
So, part 1 is about finding influential profiles that are really active in social media, at least regarding your niche. And you can do that by tracking online mentions of your brand, product or industry - this is important because you want to work with people who are vocal about topics that are super relevant to YOU.
Let’s say you’re a clothing brand that sells jeans - and you’re still relatively unknown - maybe you just opened an online shop on Etsy. In this case, you would monitor online mentions of “jeans”, “denim” and your brand name. A media monitoring tool like Brand24 will pick up mentions of these phrases from all over the Internet. Naturally, this is going to include web pages that mention these phrases just because they’re selling them too, so you WILL need to clean up your data a bit - just block those pages and get rid of irrelevant mentions.
From here, having found all these mentions about jeans, you can now look at where they’re coming from - and find potential influencers who are really vocal and active in your niche. This is something that Brand24 can help with, by analyzing your data.
If you go into the Analysis Tab and scroll down, you’ll see a section with a list of the Most Active Social Media Authors. These are the people who are really vocal about the phrases that you’re monitoring. Next to that, is a section on the Influence of Social Media Authors, listing influential profiles who have mentioned any of your keywords. Keep in mind, although the people listed here are sorted by “influence”, they’re not necessarily the best options for you to work with - because they only need to have mentioned your keyword at least once to be included… so they may not actually be the most active and vocal profiles in YOUR niche - and this is REALLY important. You want to cross reference between the people who are on BOTH of these lists - Most Active Social Media Authors and Influence of Social Media Authors. This will show you who your top choices are for influencer marketing for your brand.
Now after you’ve done that - after you’ve started monitoring phrases that are relevant to your brand or product, and found some potential influencers to work with by cross-referencing between really ACTIVE and INFLUENTIAL profiles, we can begin part 2.
