Is Putin Using Minsk Agreements As A Decoy? Why Russia & Ukraine Accuse Each Other Of Breaking Faith

French President Emmanuel Macron is taking the leading role in the effort to ease tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Macron has pointed to the 2015 Minsk Agreement as the blueprint for a breakthrough in the Ukraine crisis. After holding talks with Putin and Zelensky, Macron said that the Minsk protocol can be the only path to build peace. The Minsk agreements saw the separatist forces and Ukraine agreeing to a ceasefire in 2015 after Moscow’s annexation of Crimea. Seven years on, the two sides want diametrically opposed outcomes and have two interpretations of the agreements.
