Italian Easter Bread Calabrese Easter Bread (Cuzzupe Calabresi)

An Italian Easter Bread that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.

Ingredients
3 cups flour
¼ sugar
1 tsp salt
Two tablespoons of fast rising yeast
2 eggs
2/3 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of butter
1 to 2 tablespoon of aniseed

4 to 8 colored Easter eggs depending on what you make
We don’t cook the colored eggs as they bake in the oven

Put flour, yeast and sugar into bowl add salt mix
Sprinkle in aniseed
Make a well
Heat milk and butter in microwave to luke warm
Wisk two eggs
Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients
Mix by hand and add water or flour as needed to make dough right consistency
If dough is still too sticky add a little oil into the palm of your hand.
(Sometimes it depends on if the eggs are large or small as to what you need)
Let raise for 1 to 1 ½ hours
Cut dough in half make two thick rolls twist dough while adding eggs
Make into circle and put into Springform pan
Then with the rest make small ones for the grandchildren
Cover and let raise for another hour
Bake in oven at 350 for approx. 30 minutes until it browns on top
Then put a little milk in a bowl and brush milk on top to create shine.
