You need this tool in your financial arsenal

I use Capital One's free Creditwise service to monitor my TransUnion credit report. When there are changes, which happen every month, they send me an email. (This is not an ad)

Most months, I see big changes to my credit utilization because I charge as much as I can to credit cards and then pay it off in full each month. Sometimes, it warns me of a new line of credit, which would worry me if I didn't know about it.

It also has other fun features, like dark web monitoring, though I mostly use it for alerts.

It's free, they'll pitch you their products, but that's it. It, or something similar, should be in your arsenal.
