AstraZeneca & Serum Institute of India sign licensing deal for 1 billion doses of Oxford vaccine

Oxford University recently announced the start of a Phase II/III trial of AZD1222 in about 10,000 adult volunteers. 

British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has said that they have started manufacturing millions of doses of Corona virus vaccine prepared by Oxford University.

The company has said that the vaccine is being manufactured in Britain, Switzerland, Norway as well as India.

Pascal Soriott said that he has tied up with the Serum Institute of India to produce one billion vaccine doses.

The target is to produce one billion vaccine doses by 2021. At the same time, 40 crore doses may be ready by the end of 2020.

British company AstraZeneca says that by September, millions of vaccine doses will be ready in the factory around the world.

At the same time, 2 billion doses will be ready by the middle of 2021.

The AstraZeneca company has tied up to supply 400 million vaccines to the US.

At the same time, the company will give 100 million vaccines to Britain. However, the supply of the vaccine depends on the success of Oxford.

AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot said in a conversation with the BBC that we are starting to manufacture the vaccine.

At the time of the result, we will have the vaccine ready. However, there is a risk that if the vaccine does not work, then they will become useless.

He said that the company would not make a profit by manufacturing the vaccine until the WHO announced the end of the epidemic.

Oxford University may release the final result of the vaccine by August. The AZD1222 vaccine was initially tested on 160 healthy people aged 18 to 55 years. After this, the second and third phase trials were started.

In the third phase, Oxford University is also involving children and the elderly in the vaccine test. During this time, the vaccine is to be tested on a total of 10260 people.
