Juneteenth on the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the US
The 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States is arriving soon, on July 4th. But the 4th is not the only pivotal day in the history of the US.
Juneteenth is also foundational in the formation of our nation and our understanding of who we are as a people and what we value. Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard, explains why Juneteenth and the 4th of July are inextricably linked in her mind.
