EP1: Evolving Wax Moths to Eat and Live Off of Plastic
I'm starting a long term directed evolution project to see if I can evolve wax moths to use polyethylene as their primary energy source. Did I mention long term? Previous reports suggest plastic is eaten, and I hope to evolve the moths to the point that they can fully complete their life-cycle on a diet where polyethylene is the primary energy source.
