Hermeneutics (Part 12)

Lanny Smith of the Walton Chapel church of Christ in Lafayette TN, continues our study on how to interpret the Bible. Tonight, and for the next few lessons, Lanny teaches us about figurative language and how to identify it. There are two dangerous extremes: Literalizing everything (e.g. Matthew 5:29-13) or spiritualizing everything (e.g. 1 Corinthians 15 and the AD-70 doctrine). There are at least eight ways to identify figurative language. Lanny explains two of them tonight: The context may indicate such (e.g. Psalms 22:6) and the literal meaning may be impossible (e.g. Matthew 8:22). Please share on social media.
