4CLS presents Chaco's Monumental Roads: New Fieldwork and Insights with Robert Weiner

Rob and his team are investigating monumental roads throughout the Chaco world using a combination of GPS mapping, drone photogrammetry, optically-stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating, and comparative insights with monumental roads across the ancient world. In this talk, he will present new findings about the use and meanings of symbolic roadways in the precontact U.S. Southwest, with emphasis on issues of inequality, regional organization, and religion.

This event was made possible by Four Corners Lecture Series, the Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society, and the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.

Funding has been provided by Colorado Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan of 2020.
