Matthew Carey #7 is the Kansas 6A Offensive Soccer Player of the Year and Kansas City Star's All Metro Player of the Year. 6A All State First Team. 6A State Champions. Eastern Kansas League First Team. The team is Ranked #6 in the Nation by NSCAA, and #6 in the Nation by USAToday. Matthew scored 15 goals and added 8 assists during the season as part of a very talented attacking front three, great midfield, staunch defense and a successful keeper guarding the net. Matthew transferred to Kansas City from Washington, D.C. his senior year.

The Blue Valley Northwest High School Huskies played 110 minutes of soccer (regulation and four overtime halves) before going through seven penalty kicks on their way to winning the KS Class 6A Soccer State Championship game. Matthew scored a couple of goals to help lead a hard-fought team effort to victory in the State Championship game against Washburn. It was an outstanding team win. Matthew played first as a winger and then as central attacking midfielder. At the end of regulation the score was tied 2-2. BVNW converted six of seven penalty kicks while Washburn converted five of seven. The celebration was epic.

Matthew was offered roster spots on Creighton, U.S. Air Force Academy, Old Dominion, Duquesne and other D1 Schools.
