I’m 90% sure I’ve found the old record of most red flags in a single Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, it was 2008 and the longest video of this series. That year never wanted to end with countless amounts of rain and crashes. Witness the madness and heavy contact that defined the 60th anniversary of NASCAR involving a whopping 47 drivers. Yes, 47 drivers (six more than 2017)!

Red Flags in 2008: 17 (9 for accidents, 5 for rain, 2 for oil and 1 for track surface)
