Victoria de los Angeles the world famous operatic and lieder lyric soprano was born in Barcelona 1923, and died Barcelona 2005.

Here she is singing at the Barcelona Liceu Fire Benefit Gala, held in the Palau Sant Jord,Barcelona,1994 accompanied by the famous Cellist Lluis Claret.

Near the 1992 Barcelona Olympic site.

Many famous world singers sang at this concert, voluntarily, in aid of the rebuilding costs of the Barcelona Opera House destroyed by fire in January 1994.

The Liceu was the second largest in Europe,the Palais Garnier, National de l'Opéra de París being the largest.
Fire caused almost total destruction of Barcelona's great Opera House.

The sense of loss in Barcelona,Catalonia, and Spain was shared by many worldwide.
Thankfully the Liceu is now rebuilt to it's former grandeur.
