El Salvador Presidential Election 2024 - Democracy in Action 🇸🇻

It’s the end of the world as we know it, and (here in El Salvador) I feel fine!!! Today is February 4, 2024 and it is the Presidential Elections in El Salvador! Join us as we document our experience as a family living in El Salvador on this Historic Day! Carlos casts his vote at a local polling station in San Salvador, El Salvador and we drive around the city which despite what international media coverage said would happen, is clean, beautiful, friendly, and warm as per usual. There were no protests violence or corruption, only happy citizens fulfilling their patriotic duty and casting their vote for President of El Salvador. An AMAZING display of Democracy in Action. We end the night like many Salvadorans around the world with pupusas and misty eyes glued to the television screen, hearts swelling with pride. I am so proud to have been able to call El Salvador my home for the past 14 years and to have had the privilege to bear witness to the historic events over the last 5 years under President Nayib Bukele and look forward to another 5 AMAZING years here in El Salvador under his leadership. Congratulations Mr. President on your Historic Victory (record breaking 85% of total votes) and for ALL that you do for this great Country and the Salvadorans here in El Salvador as well as our Salvadoran expatriates living abroad. The future is hopeful and bright here in El Salvador for my Salvadoran children thanks to you. #elsalvador #nayibbukele

El Salvador Presidential Elections Facts:
- El Salvador is a Democracy with free and fair elections, the president is chosen by the people of El Salvador by way of Votes
- El Salvador offers free public transportation to all citizens during elections
- Voting is not compulsory.
- According to the Electoral Code, for a person to be declared President-Elect of the Republic, they must obtain 50% plus one of the votes obtained
- Presidential and vice presidential candidates in El Salvador must be at least 30 years of age or older
- All Salvadoran Presidential candidates must be Salvadoran citizens by birth

2024 El Salvador Presidential Elections Facts:
- A total of 1,595 voting centers were available across the country.
- Electronic voting for Salvadoran expatriates began at midnight on 6 January 2024. Expatriates were able to vote at 81 voting centers in 60 of the country's embassies and consulates in 30 countries
- Nayib Bukele won the Presidential election with a Historic record breaking 85% of the total votes
