The 1-String Diddley Bow is the simplest of all stringed instruments & one of the most influential instruments for American Roots Music. Legends like Lightning Hopkins, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, and Bo Diddey (who took his name from the Diddley Bow) all started out on this one-stringed instrument. The vocal qualities and sustain of this ax-handle Diddley Bow inspired this One-String version of "Amazing Grace."
