Hi! I'm Becky Pike Pluth and I'm President and CEO of The Bob Pike Group. One thing I want to teach you really quickly today is what not to do, like the biggest mistakes, in presenting, whether you're online or live. So some of the biggest mistakes are: One. Apologizing in front of the crowd for what they might not even notice. So you're online live, and you're like, "oh I'm really sorry. I clicked the wrong button. I meant to application share, but I did this instead." Stop now! Because they don't even know it. So don't apologize for that which they may not know. Another big mistake that people make during an online session or in the classroom is too much engagement. You think you have to use every single tool. Instead, I want to encourage you to pick the ones that are most valuable to you, and use them every 4 minutes in an online session, or every 10 minutes in a classroom session. My final tip for you what not to do is to absolutely do not dress a step below. Always dress a step above. So online that means you need to be business from the waist up, like I am today, otherwise you would see my pajama pants on the bottom. But in a classroom, it needs to be a step above. So if your class is casual, so when when I was working for Club Med, everyone's wearing flip-flops and shorts, and I'm wearing capris and a t-shirt. You know, a nice one, but I'm not going to dress in a suit. And when you're online with people from all over the world, you want to make sure that you're professional, at least from the top up. What I recommend doing is just keeping a jacket in your office, so if ever you have to do an impromptu session, you have something read to go.
