The Operator's Move: 5 Steps to AI-Run Work

The whole skill in one picture: five steps that take a piece of work from "it's all in my head" to "an AI runs it." See the road before you walk it.

The five-step operator's move:
1 — Be the human first. Do the work by hand and watch yourself — every step, every "except when…" (Module 2.)
2 — Distill to the smallest pieces. Break the messy flow into the 4–6 things you really do; call each one AI or human. (Module 3.)
3 — Define what good looks like. Strip the vague words. Say what goes in, what must come out, how you'll know it's right. (Module 4.)
4 — Hand it over — train it like a new hire. Give the AI one defined piece, fix what's off, run it again. Reinforce until it's reliable. (Module 5.)
5 — Make it stick. Wrap the working piece in the five-phase method so it runs the same way every time.

Here's the big idea: that front half is Phase 0. Steps 1–4 have a name — Phase 0: Decompose. The five phases (Context, Rules, Documentation, Verification, Feedback) are the harness you build onto the AI, but Phase 0 is the thinking you do first, before the AI touches anything. Most people skip straight to the harness and wonder why it falls apart.
