A basic cellular system is used in mobile communication.
The total service area is divided into small parts called cells.
Each cell has one base station.
Mobile phones inside the cell communicate with that base station.
The base station is connected to the Mobile Switching Center, called MSC.
MSC controls calls, messages, user movement, and connection to other networks.
When a person moves from one cell to another cell, the call is transferred automatically.
This is called handoff.
The main advantage of the cellular system is frequency reuse, which allows many users to communicate at the same time.
