South Korea, Japan, and China are set to adopt a joint statement that would include tackling infectious diseases together and expanding economic cooperation ahead of the upcoming trilateral summit in Seoul.
According to the Japan Times on Sunday, citing Japanese government officials, the joint statement will also include "personnel exchanges, science and technology, sustainable development, public health, economic cooperation and trade, and peace and security."
The South Korean government has yet to officially confirm the agenda, but watchers expect North Korea will be a key issue as well.
This will be the first trilateral summit since 2019, before COVID-19 hit.
The three countries have been in talks to finalize a date with May 26th and 27th as their goal.
