Claudia Schiffer (born 25.08.1970) is a German model.

Childhood: Claudia Schiffer was born in Rheinberg, West Germany. Her parents are Heinz, a lawyer, and Gudrun Schiffer. She wanted to become a lawyer like her father but became a model after getting scouted at a nightclub by Michel Levaton of Metropolitan Model Agency.

Modelling career: Claudia Schiffer made her modelling debut on the cover of French Elle. During the nineties she appeared in the Guess? Jeans campaigns. She later did a shoot for British Vogue, with photographer Herb Ritts and soon became the face of Chanel. Her most recent campaign for the brand was as the face of the Chanel A/W11 Eyewear. She became the first model to make the covers of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New York Times and People and she has also appeared on Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Time. As well as campaign modelling, she has done a lot of runway shows for the likes of Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Valentino. She has also endorsed high street fashion including Mango and Accessoriz, the latter for which she had her ears pierced. Among her other advertising campaigns are Pepsi, Fanta, Citroen and L'Oreal. She is signed to d'management group in Milan, 1/One Management in New York City and Marilyns in Paris, as well as Model Management in Hamburg. In 2011, she was a judge on 'Fashion Fringe' and in 2012 she posed for Guess? Again for a 30th anniversary campaign.

Other career ventures: Claudia Schiffer launched her cashmere collection in 2011 and it is now sold in department stores and high-end boutiques. In 1994, she appeared in the movie 'Richie Rich' with Macaulay Culkin and John Larroquette before going on to star alongside Dennis Hopper and Matthew Modine in 'The Blackout'. She also had parts in 1999's 'Friends & Lovers, Black and White' and 2001's 'In Pursuit and Life Without Dick' and even made a cameo in 'Love Actually'. She has released four best-selling exercise tapes called 'Claudia Schiffer's Perfectly Fit'. So co-owns the restaurant chain 'Fashion Café' which was opened by Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Elle Macpherson in 1995. She is a UK Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef and was a spokesperson for Make Poverty History in the Click advertisement.

Personal life: Claudia Schiffer is fluent in German, English and French. In the past she has romanced Richie Sambora, Prince Albert of Monaco and Peter Gabriel. She was engaged to David Copperfield from 1994 'til 1999 after meeting at one of his shows. The pair sued the magazine Paris Match in 1997 after it claimed their relationship was a stunt. She was later in a relationship with art dealer Tim Jefferies. In 2002, she married Matthew Vaughn with whom she has three children; Caspar Matthew, Clementine Poppy and Cosima Violet. In 2002, a man was arrested for repeatedly visiting her English home though he was not charged due to being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. In 2004, another man was also accused of harassment.
