MESA Rosette™ Acoustic DI-Preamp Demo

For those looking to go Direct with your acoustic instrument, MESA has designed the new Rosette Acoustic DI Preamplifier with a concise range of professional tone-shaping features and thorough connectivity options.

The Rosette DI-Preamp is based on the same Input and EQ circuitry found in the Rosette 2x8 Combo (minus the microphone input), all derived from high-end recording console design. A wide range of high impedance pickups can be accommodated with the Rosette’s optimized, current source-biased FET input stage. Phase relation can be switched for the best Tone and can also assist in feedback elimination. Two different sweep-able filters also assist with feedback elimination in a live performance environment. The variable NOTCH FILTER feature surgically cuts a narrow band of a chosen frequency to combat feedback in the live environment with minimal effect on the overall tone. The HI-PASS Filter cuts frequencies in the sub-harmonic range and is aimed at eliminating unwanted low frequency feedback on stage as well as tightening up the low-end for specific instruments or musical styles. The footswitchable BOOST provides up to a +6dB volume increase for stepping out in a solo or other musical sections requiring higher volumes and the MUTE Footswitch mutes your signal to all outputs except the TUNER OUT, for to provide silent tuning. The professional EQ Section incorporates fixed shelving BASS and TREBLE controls plus two semi-parametric MID bands covering LOW and HIGH midrange frequencies. These can overlap for finite control over adjacent midrange frequencies or one might be used to combat feedback while the other is applied for Tone shaping duties.

The Rosette DI-Preamp back panel offers optimized Outputs to connect to a wide range of amps, effects, FX Return jacks, powered monitors and live sound and recording inputs and delivers studio-quality sound in any live or recording application. The XLR balanced Preamp Out is optimized for connection to powered monitor inputs or professional power amps while the 1/4” unbalanced Preamp Out is used for connecting to an amplifier input or FX Return jack expecting Line Level signal. The Line Level Series FX Loop accomodates nearly any style of FX signal level and the studio-quality DIRECT OUT provides for Pre or Post EQ options and includes a Pin 1 Ground Lift.

The Rosette Series is designed not just for acoustic guitars, but also for vocals, ukulele, mandolin, dobro, violin/fiddle, cello, upright bass, and and other uniquely acoustic instruments.

Recorded with various guitars and instruments into the Rosette DI Preamp, directly into the API 1608 Console from the Rosette DI Pre DIRECT OUTPUT set to POST EQ. Some playing examples include the Dunlop MXR Reverb pedal, as shown. Light mastering for optimized level and no other post production.
