IJN Light Cruiser Ōyodo 大淀 1/700 Fujimi

The Ōyodo was designed to be the flagship of a submarine attack group that would coordinate activities and assist in finding surface targets. She was the lead ship and the only ship in her class. Her planned sister ship, Niyodo was canceled in 1941 as aircraft carrier construction was given priority. She participated in an operation to reinforce the garrisons at Rabaul and Kavieng. She was severly damaged during the Battle of the Leyte Gulf (October 1944). In January 1945, while part of Carrier Division 4, Ōyodo departed Singapore carrying valuable supplies (300 tons of rubber, zinc, mercury, tin, and gasoline) to Japan. She arrived at Kure on 20 February 1945 and remained in Japan for the remainder of the war. On 19 March 1945, she was attacked by the American aircrafts and received three hits. She was towed to Etajima in Hiroshima Bay and beached. Eventually towed to Kure for repairs which took until 4 April 1945. Unfortunately, on 24 July 1945, Ōyodo was hit by four bombs and suffered severe damage until she was listed to starboard. On 28 July 1945, while at Etajima, she was hit by four more bombs which caused her to capsize in shallow water.
