Byzantine Music - An Unbroken Chain

A documentary film by The Academy of St Juliana.

This second video focuses on a concise historical overview of Byzantine music, from its early beginnings to current practice and performance, for which we traveled to Greece, and the Middle East, visiting bustling modern cities, churches and ancient monasteries.

This documentary features interviews with:
- Prof. and Protopsaltis Dimitris Manousis (Thessaloniki)
- Fr. Averkios from the Holy Monastery of Varlaam (Meteora)
- Protopsaltis Spyros Spyrou (The Holy Monastery of Great Meteora)

The Academy of St Juliana is intended to be a double centre of activity, culture and education in the heart of Greece (Kalambaka, Meteora ) and in the UK (Shrewsbury, England). We invite you to participate, support and follow our work.
