Watch Part 2 for the conclusion! (Coming in a few weeks).
Part 2 will focus on real world performance, including Plex hw encoding and network transfer speeds.
00:00 - Intro
00:51 - A look at the hardware
06:47 - Installing Hard Drives
12:14 - Trying to fit the gpu in the server
16:00 - The GPU Fits!
18:10 - Soldering on more SATA power connectors
23:22 - Vacuuming up my mess

39:11 - Conclusion for Part 1
If you choose to go this route, please make your self aware of the risks of using used hard drives. The drives used in this video were manufactured in 2016 so I believe they will have a ton of life left on them.
Hardware List:
Lenovo RD240 2U Server - $200
nVidia Quadro M2000 PCI-E GPU - $100
8x HGST 8TB SAS Hard Drives - $840
PCI-E 8x to 16x expansion port (ribbon) - $26
Samsung 250 GB SSD - $70
Everything was sourced used on ebay / craigslist except for the PCI-E expansion port.
