Hinduism not a 'religion of the book'
Because Hinduism is so open and diverse it can be difficult to actually define what it actually is. This video describes how it is not really a religion, but a dynamic culture founded on eternal spiritual principles.
Unlike Christianity and Islam, Hinduism cannot be defined by texts alone. It is not shackled to scripture, but is an evolving tradition centered around spiritual practice.
It is this unique feature which has allowed Hinduism to consistently move with the times and needs of the people. This is why it has survived thousands of years and is known as Sanathana Dharma - the Eternal Religion.
