Houston Texans: How Nick Caserio Decides Who’s “Tough Enough”

Nick Caserio gave us a revealing look at how the Houston Texans evaluate one of the hardest traits to measure: toughness.

In this video, I react to Caserio’s comments about the Texans’ draft process and how they decide whether a player has the edge, grit, consistency, and football character they’re looking for. We’ll look at what he said about Aiden Fisher, Wade Woodaz, and Kamari Ramsey — and why the Texans seem to have a very specific type when they’re building this roster.

Caserio talked about finishing plays, playing to the whistle, consistency, leadership, winning backgrounds, and what coaches and teammates say about a player behind the scenes. That gives us a pretty good window into how the Texans are trying to identify guys who fit DeMeco Ryans’ program.

We’ll break down:

How the Texans define toughness
What Wade Woodaz brings as a modern linebacker/special teams body type
Why winning programs matter in Houston’s draft process
Where Kamari Ramsey may fit best in the secondary

The big question: are the Texans simply drafting tough football players — or do they have a repeatable process for finding the right kind of toughness?
