Upper Deschutes Watershed Council "Ripples of Change"

Whychus Creek is historically one of the most important steelhead spawning areas in the Upper Deschutes Basin. When the creek was straightened in the 1960s, Camp Poke Meadow lost many miles of important fish and wildlife habitat.

The Deschutes Land Trust with the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council, the Deschutes National Forest and many students and volunteers restored the creek, wetlands, native plants, and reestablished the salmon and steelhead in the creek.

This video was produced for the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council to share with a community and investors the amazing project taking place at Camp Polk by various agencies and non-profits. The project was to restore the creek to its' natural and original flow pattern with the hopes of salmon returning to the creek.
