Deforestation in Peru: a slippery slope
Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees: https://www.ecosia.org
Peru’s forests are disappearing. In only 15 years, one million hectares of woodland have been cut down in a country that holds 13% of the Amazon rainforest.
But there’s hope. Farmers who have never met are helping one another by reforesting their land. Those who live at the top of a mountain depend on trees for cooking, heating and housing, but cutting down trees threatens the livelihood of farmers further inland. With the help of our partners at Progreso, these communities are now planting trees, for everyone’s benefit.
This is a story about how we are all connected by trees.
Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees. Every month we invest at least 80% of our surplus in tree planting projects all over the world.
