Honey Bee Hive 10 Frame 100% Pre Waxed, By Hoover Hive, Sold by Galena Farms, My Review.
Welcome!
I was recently asked how I dip my hives in wax? Well, like many backyard beekeepers, I'm not working in a high enough volume to make dipping my own hives worthwhile.
However, there is a nicely priced Pre-Waxed Hive, complete with dove-tail joints, that is available at a reasonable price.
Galena Farms www.GalenaFarms.com sells several hive variations and with a variety of finishes, including Amish Built Hives. This Hoover Hive is being sold by Galena Farms but is Made in China. Don't confuse this hive with the Amish offerings on the same site.
In this video, I review and assemble the 10 Frame Pre-Waxed (100% bees wax) kit that includes 2 deep boxes and 1 medium honey super, with:
1- heavy waxed bottom board
1- waxed entrance reducer
1- completely waxed inner cover
1- waxed telescoping cover that is galvanized steel clad
All for $189.00 including shipping, at the time of this posting.
It's also available at Amazon for the same price (free shipping for prime members) https://amzn.to/2KPHhZl
I was very impressed and will be evaluating this hive and its finish, throughout 2021, so watch for it! :)

QUOTE FROM HOOVER HIVE regarding their wax process:
"Our hives have no need for paint. Our unique combination of earthwax and beeswax provide a durable and sustainable method of protection.
The process starts with raising the temperature of our first coating. After the earthwax hits just the right temperature, we dip the bee boxes, inner cover, telescoping top, and bottom boards in it and allow the wax to impregnate the wood. After a few minutes of being submerged, the hive parts are then raised out from the wax to dry. The earthwax we use is made from an organic blend of paraffin and a mineral called Ozokerite. This blend of wax is what gives your hive the durability it needs.
For the second coat, we take the already impregnated wood and dip it in 100% beeswax. We then take the wood out from the wax and allow it to dry. Beeswax makes the bees feel at home in their new hive and what gives the hive parts their beautiful golden honey finish."
Thanks for watching!
