Future of U.S. Embassy Security: Tactical Training at State Department’s Epic New Campus

The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) trains its special agents in counterterrorism and tactical operations at a new, state-of-the-art, 1,300-acre facility in Blackstone, Virginia. The center includes 19 miles of simulated streets and highways, an off-road course, a fire-as-a-weapon simulator, and the highlight, a military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) simulator. This full-scale town includes a complete embassy compound and multistory buildings. With tensions increasing globally by the day, this center’s mission has become even more urgent.
