Stop-Motion Transformation of Toyworld TW-FS06 Red Baron. This is one of my favorite things ever. I like how the engine becomes a gorget on his chest. What’s interesting about the engine on a Fokker Dr.I is that it is a rotary engine. The operating principle is the same as a radial engine with pistons arranged in a ring, except the whole engine rotates along with the propeller. It apparently helped with cooling to have the whole engine move like that. This was the same plane most associated with Manfred von Richthofen, also known as the Red Baron. But he actually got more kills in biplanes. I actually have two legs and an arm so far for the Build-A-Figure Toyworld has going on. I assume the other arm will come with “Fierce Hot” and the rest of the body will come with their battleship that turns into Jetfire. I’m glad they went ahead and just released this design as a regular figure and I just had to have the iconic Red Baron version of it.

Production Note: Nothing too tricky. His legs are actually collapsed down as I do the upper body to prevent him from moving around too much, but it’s off camera so you would never know. I toyed with the idea of capturing the propeller in motion by spinning it for each of the turnaround pictures (so there would be motion blur in each frame) but it was going to be quite a hassle, so I decided to have the plane at rest and the propeller static since the engine isn’t set up to move along with it accurately anyway.

If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using the Chrome plugin called "Frame by Frame for YouTube". It turns your , and . keyboard keys into single-frame movement keys. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
