The River of Feelings — A Buddhist Perspective on Managing Emotions

AWAKENING WITH MINDFULNESS 14-DAY TRAINING:

Our feelings are like a river, in the sense that they are always flowing and changing. Often, we get carried away by this stream of emotions and even feel like we are drowning in it.

One thing we can practice, is learning to sit on the bank of the river and to watch the feelings as they flow by.

If we are mindful and attentive, we will see our feelings are constantly coming and going. They are temporary. We can allow an emotion to be here, and we can allow it to pass.

We don't have to identify with it, create a story about it, try to change it or try to control it in any way.

We can witness it, let it be, smile to it, give compassion to it (and ourselves), and allow it to transform in its own time.

This is one of many practices covered in the 14-Day Mindfulness Training:

May you find peace in yourself and peace with your ever-changing emotions. 🙏
