Starting from the Stanford Avenue Staging Area (Hidden Valley Trail) is the most popular, direct, and arguably most challenging way to the summit, it is shorter but steeper than the approach from Ohlone College.

Elevation Gain ~2,150 feet

Parking Reality: The staging area only has about 40 spots. If you aren't there by 6:30 AM on a weekend, you’ll likely end up parking in the overflow areas on Antelope Dr or Vineyard Ave (which adds about 0.5 miles to your walk).

Sun Exposure: The Stanford side offers virtually no shade, is 99% exposed.
