Why a New HVAC System Won’t Fix a Bad Attic

A new HVAC system comes with a warranty on parts and sometimes labor. What it doesn't come with is protection against the strain caused by a failing attic. If the insulation above is thin, the sealing is poor, or the space is contaminated, the new system inherits all of that load from day one.

It runs longer cycles, draws more power, and wears faster than it was designed to because the house can't hold the air the system produces. When a compressor fails early or a blower motor burns out ahead of schedule, the warranty might cover the part.

It won't cover the years of inflated energy bills that led up to it. The attic created the conditions. The equipment just absorbed them.
