Daewoo Espero o Aranos para algunos mercados, fue diseñado por Bertone, y con claras similitudes con el Citroen XM, y se presenta por allá en Agosto de 1990 en Corea, como respuesta a modelos de la compentecia como el Kia Capital y Hyundai Elantra.

El espero en un comienzo solo fue pensado para Corea y esto se mantuvo hasta 1991, donde comienza a expandirse por el resto del mundo, es así como en Noviembre de 1992 aterriza en Chile en su estrenada actualizacion la cual se presenta a fines de 1991.

Esta se diferenciaba de la version 1990, por el grupo de opticos en la parte trasera del modelo. Ya para 1993 el Espero recibe una actualizacion interior y exterior esta ultima de forma leve, la cual llega a Chile en 1994.

Con fuertes competidores como Elantra, Sephia, Artis, Sentra entre otros modelos.

Ya para 1997 el Espero es reemplazado por el Nubira en su mercado de origen pero aun asi en varios mercados como el Chileno pudieron compartir mercado. Ya para 2000 se producen y comercializan las ultimas unidades del Espero.
