Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Reportedly Wins Second Straight NBA MVP Award

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won his second consecutive NBA MVP award, becoming the 14th player in league history to win back-to-back MVPs with 83 of 100 first-place votes. The Oklahoma City Thunder posted a league-best 64-18 record as SGA averaged 31.1 points, 6.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals while shooting 39% from three. He finished ahead of Nikola Jokić (second) and Victor Wembanyama (third). SGA credited hard work and his teammates, and noted how early-career growth helped him reach this point; he has also won Clutch Player of the Year and last season’s NBA Finals MVP. The 127-game streak of 20+ points dating to 2024 set an NBA record, and he had seven 40+ point games, including a career-high 55 against the Pacers. Draft-wise, he was the No. 11 pick in 2018 by Charlotte, with his rights traded to the Clippers and then to the Thunder in a deal for Paul George.
