i was quite vigorous with the opening of the box!!
purchased from www.chanel.com

Things to look for when spotting a fake Chanel:
-The cap should be glass
-The pump that sprays the perfume out will not stick down into the bottle far. Fakes have a cheap pump that is much larger and protrudes into the bottle way more than it should.
-The tubing should be invisible or near invisible in the perfume. Fakes have tubing that is highly visible in the perfume.
-The labels, front, bottom and the 4 digit number should be etched into the glass, no stickers. (some authentic perfumes have no label on the bottom but on the back instead. I think those are testers but it's still etched in)
-The boxes can vary depending on when they were originally purchased but the 4 digit code will always match on an authentic Chanel. (the formula has been changed so the ingredient list can differ)
-They can be made in the U.S.A. or in France. I'm not sure how you get Chanel made in France, maybe you have to live in Europe. I bought mine in the US so I guess that's why mine says made in the U.S.A. New York.
-The smell.
