Gigafactory Texas on 17 August 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

So many details and areas of progress across the site today! Major expansion well north of the battery cathode plant, establishing a new equipment staging location and allowing relocation from the east side near the Warehouse on Wheels (WOW) Yard for more construction in that location! White Model Y’s now being made in large numbers and a new exit location for new cars on the west side of General Assembly.

In the video introduction, we talk about the delivery o DMG MORI CNC and milling machines to the casting area in the main factory, possibly related to final finishing of the castings and future product production. We also discuss the white painted Model Y’s, which is a change from the past few weeks, and the brand-new equipment staging location on the very far northeast of the site near where more dirt excavation is underway.

Here are some other highlights from today’s drone flight:
- There is a new equipment staging area well north of the battery cathode plant, and I use a long pullback to show where this is located in relationship to the rest of the site. This is a great indication a lot of this is being relocated from the east staging location and with all the grade work there, we may see a new construction project or a major reconfiguration of that area soon.
- In addition to the large number of castings on the east side of the casting machine part of the main factory, we also see more large wooden crates from DMG MORI arriving and being moved around in preparation for assembly. These are parts of several CNC & Milling machines that will be installed inside the casting structure, possibly part of the final work on each casting, or perhaps new capabilities for future product production. There currently is no indication that the IDRA 9,000-ton Giga Press has arrived yet, but expectations are this will occur before the end of this month.
- There is a new factory exit for newly produced cars on the west side of General Assembly, using the steel ramp and with a marked off driving path using concrete barriers along the side of the main building to the south end.
- Also on the west side of General Assembly, we see active saw cutting in the exterior concrete wall panels, creating several new cargo loading bays. This is near where the steel ramp for exiting new vehicles is located.
- Farther north on the west side of General Assembly, we also see a new loading apron section with newly poured concrete. There are many cargo loading bays here with temporary panels installed, so it is possible we will see some of these removed to further increase the number of cargo bays on this side of the building.
- Production of white painted Model Y’s has resumed as is evident by the number of these cars on the south S end today. We also see several more transports trucks arriving to pickup and move these cars off-site. Soo far, all the activity continues on the south end, but we should seen see some of this activity relocate to the new transport area on the east parking lot.
- On the east side, we see the small parking lot paving in progress, now covering most of the area in hew asphalt. It appears crews are working on the charging location of this area today, and at the pace they are moving, should have this are completed today.
- We see expanding grade raising and levelling work on the far east side material staging location. There are now four distinct sections of this area getting fill dirt applied. The WOW Yard expansion work continues, and we see the relocation of many pieces of equipment to the new far northeast location, clering space for more configuration changes in this area.
