Why you should develop your most essential leadership skill | Jos Rovers | TEDxWageningenUniversity
Leadership skills of today are still based on working relations that no longer exist. Hierarchy has made room for autonomy and self-managing teams. That is why the most essential leadership skill ever, speaking, needs to be replaced by its opposite: listening. That takes courage but it brings empathy and true engagement of employees. It asks for leaders to know themselves and to show up genuinely. That motivates! Jos Rovers develops leadership and people's engagement in organizations. He creates cultures where performance between people is driven by their capacity to connect on deep personal levels. That gives true and trustworthy relationships. He also teaches ‘Leadership and change’ at VU University in Amsterdam. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
