Competitive Magic: the Gathering began way back in 1994. The game has changed a whole lot over the years, though. And there are some older cards that used to be quite good, but don't look like much today. Sometimes this is because these cards were perfect in a particular metagame. Other times it's simply power creep that makes it hard to identify what cards that used to be good.
