Abandoned Iceland #9: Skaftafell National Park
We visited Svartifoss, the most goth waterfall of them all in Skaftafell, south of Iceland. The waterfall inspired the architect, Guðjón Samúlesson, to use stuðlaberg or columnar basalt for his design of the national theatre, as well as Hallgrímskirkja. As you would expect in an abandoned Iceland, there were almost no tourists in the area.
