The Roosevelt Island Tramway is located between East 59th Street and East 60th Street on 2nd Avenue. To ride the tram, you must have a metro card which is available for purchase via vending machines on site. The four-minute ride between Manhattan and Roosevelt Island gives you magnificent views of the Midtown skyline, taking you 230 ft above ground and traveling at about 17 mph. Once the tram arrives at its destination, you must exist the tram and re-enter if you would like to complete the round trip. Face West when riding for a magnificent view of Billionaires Row. Some of the sites you’ll see:
* 432 Park Avenue
* Central Park Tower (currently tallest residential building in the works)
* 111 West 57th Street (currently skinniest residential building in the world)
* Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge

Hours of operations for the Tram:

* Sunday through Thursday: 6 AM - 2 AM
* Friday and Saturday: 6 AM - 3:30 AM
* Morning Rush Hours (Monday through Friday): 7 AM - 10 AM
* Evening Rush Hours (Monday through Friday): 3 PM - 8 PM
* Holidays: Tram runs on a regular schedule, except for major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day), during which the Tram runs on a rush hour schedule.
