No Safeguard? No Problem! Climbing and Rappelling with an ATC, a Figure 8, and the Mammut Smart 2.0

In this video I highlight alternatives to the Madrock Safeguard for one stick climbing and rappelling. I demonstrate how to use an ATC, a figure 8 and the Mammut Smart 2.0. The Mammut Smart 2.0 is a "passive" assisted braking device, meaning that it assists without any moving parts. It allows you to make easy adjustments while climbing or while and hunting height and it automatically blocks the rope when weighted which makes for easy and safe rappelling. IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT BUY THE PACKAGE DEAL. The SMART HMS carabiner included in the package has some slip. I recommend buying the Mammut Smart 2.0 by itself and pairing it with the Black Diamond Rock Lock carabiner as shown in the video.*As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases listed below.
