Sri Yoga Narasihma temple

Sri Yoga Narasihma temple is at Gorur in Hassan district. This place has a history of about four centuries and was earlier known as Gokarnapuri or Gokarnapuri Kshetra. It is said that when sage Gokarna was doing penance on the banks of Hemavati River facing the east, Lord Yoga Narasihma appeared in front of him and therefore the idol of Sri Yoga Narasihma consecrated here is facing east. A special feature of this temple is that the self-manifested idol of Lord Yoga Narasihma is facing towards the east.

On the day of Rathasaptami during the Magha month every year, a grand car festival of Lord Yoga Narasihma is conducted here for nine days. Thousands of devotees throng the temple and participate in all the celebrations.
